Benefits of Oil Pulling for Acne | Alert Medical

In a randomised triple blind study conducted by the Department of dentistry, periodontics and microbiology in Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, the efficacy of gold standard chlorhexidine mouthwash was compared with sesame oil pulling in order to compare the levels of plaque and aerobic microorganisms after use. It was found that there was a statistically significant reduction in the levels of aerobic microorganisms and plaque in both groups; however those that were oil pulling with sesame oil had a greater reduction in total colony count of microorganisms. Why oil pulling can help acne & other skin conditions If youve read any of the previous articles on AlertMedicals acne section such as our food and acne article , I tend drive home the point that the cause of acne has relatively little to do with the bacteria on your skin, but rather the excessively high levels of toxicity in the body providing ripe grounds for P. Acne bacterium to survive and multiply. Without an overly toxic body, the bacteria cannot survive and therefore the body will not produce this inflammatory immune response also known as acne. In previous articles I have touched on ways to reduce the levels of body toxicity in order to combat the acne condition naturally and safely, such as reducing the amount of carbohydrates and sugars that are ingested and instead replacing with organic fruits, vegetables, non-salted nuts, seeds, beans and lentils.
